Happy Mothers Day

A woman's influence is the chief anchor of society.

No costly marble can build a more beautiful monument of her memory than the impression she makes on her own household.  The honest form of a true mother reigns queen in the hearts of her children forever. She molds their minds and is the author of their grandest achievements. Cruelty she despises, and it lessens at her bidding; purity she admires and it grows in her presences; music she loves; and her home is full of its melody; happiness is her herald, and she infuses the world with a desire for enjoyment. The world is moved and civilization is advanced by the silent influence of women. Man may make his monument of granite or marble, woman makes hers of immortality.

from 'The Golden Gems of Life' by Ferguson and Allen

As a woman (and mother), you are not automatically assigned the job of "chief worrier." Instead, fill your heart with trust, hope, and God's peace. You'll sleep so much better at night.

by Karen Wolff

The LORD is my rock,
and my fortress,
and my deliverer;
my God, my strength,
in whom I will trust.

Psalm 18:2

 She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness. She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.  Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.

This is a very precious photo of me with my mother. I was to be her last baby and born not long after my sister Elizabeth had died from cot death at four months.  I often wondered what she was thinking as she was holding me . . . praying that I would be ok and not be taken away from her.  Thankyou mum for all that you have done for me.
