This is a tragic story—one that made me both very sad but also very angry—in fact to be honest it breaks my heart.  Humans like to play God, we think we can do a far better job —we see this with the destruction of unborn children through abortion —but this story demonstrates that, with money, some are willing to take that cruelty so a much higher level.  To deliberating change the sex of their born child, from girl to boy —as boys have move value that girls in some societies.  It makes me sick that someone would do this to an innocent child.  I can’t even imagine the long term affects this will have on the child.

Indian doctors have been accused of conducting sex change operations on young girls whose parents want sons to improve the family's income prospects.  Madhya Pradesh state government is investigating claims that up to 300 girls were surgically turned into boys in one city after their parents paid about 2000 pounds ($3000) each for the operations.. . .  In 2001 there were 886 girls born to every 1000 boys in Delhi. Today there are only 866. The more educated and rich you are, the more there is killing of girls .  Read more: link

I really don't have any words to describes how sad this is.  Middle class Indian families who do not want girls because they cost them money (eg through providing a dowry at marriage). The verse in 1 Timothy 6:10 says it all . .  For the love of money is the root of all evil . . . and this is evil.

God created a balance with more boys born than girls (approximately 105 boys to 100 girls) — its perfect, as all things that God does.  This occurs due to the battles and risks that boys take and by the age of 20, the number of boys and girls are basically 50/50.
However, as soon as society interferes and deliberately plays God with gender selection (sex-selective abortion and infanticide) an imbalance occurs.  The result is more boys than girls and the delicate balance that returns it to 50/50 is destroyed. This is what is happening both in India and China.  I have read that the difficulty of finding wives in places like China and India are leading males into sinful activities such as crime and increasing the demand for prostitution, which, in turn leads to an increase in sexually transmitted diseases.  There has also been a rise in mail order brides. We are only just beginning to see tip of the iceberg in regards to gender selection, just imagine the mess in another 20 years.

In light of the article last week about the genderless pre-school, will parents start to request genderless children next?  A blank canvas so they can "do what they like".

Are we much different to Sodom and Gomorrah?

Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven; And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground.
Genesis 19:24-25

  1. Jo: My Dearest & I have been discussing this for years. It is the most insane attitude to take because of the long term implications. Anyone who has experienced the *Little Emperor* syndrome in both India & China would pity any woman unlucky enough to get one of these males as a mate but I also believe it will lead to more crimes against women & children ~ especially sex crimes & crimes of violence. It is evil ~ & appears to be unstoppable. So sad.

  4. How horrible - while boys might provide an heir - does anyone stop to wonder how they're going to GET more boys if no-one will have a girl??? Every human - male OR female is precious to God - He creates each one - and neither gender can live without the other! For those of us who don't seem to be able to have (more) children, it seems especially tragic that so many babies are taken before they even have a chance to live - or their lives are altered and destroyed through selfish decisions by their parents. It's so very sad. And each parent who does any of those things - from murder through to changing the gender of their child - will have to answer to God for what they did to one of His created beings.
