Growing old together

 (painting by Susan Rios)

As my DH and I sat in the study on Sunday afternoon, he at his computer and I at mine, working quietly as the rain fell outside . . . I thought . . . how perfect it all was.  We were snug and warm in our cosy home, a cat curled up nearby . . . I thought . . . if this is how we will be growing old together I have no complaints.

I wanna make you smile whenever you're sad
Carry you around when your arthritis is bad
All I wanna do is grow old with you

I'll get your medicine when your tummy aches
Build you a fire if the furnace breaks
Oh it could be so nice, growing old with you

All I wanna do is grow old with you.

  2. Cute! Can't imagine carrying my hubby though - would be a sight for sorry eyes! Besides, I'm enjoying now!

  3. Bets, the words are from a song sung in a movie - the guy is singing them to a young lady he wants to marry. So wasn't planning to carry DH around, he could perhaps carry me if needs be!!

I'm also enjoy "now" but it's nice to think that our old age will be nice:)

  4. Precious thoughts and feelings...I watch this with my parents, each helping each other through all the health issues that have come with their age...married 52 years now

I too am growing old with my hubby..he is 57 and I am 50, but we have yet to have much alone time with a five year old running around the house.

  5. How sweet and wonderful! And such a good reminder that my husband and I are growing old together...good or bad. Might as well be pleasant. Thank you for the post. You may not have intended it, but I am convicted.

Lord, teach us to number our days.
