Daily joys

Daily duties are daily joys, becuase
they are something which God
gives us to offer until Him, to do
our very best, in acknowledgment
of His love.

- Edward Bouverie Pusey -

I fail at this one all the time, grudgingly dusting the house, complaining about dishes left in the sink, ("why can't my family do their own dishes") seeing the chores as tedious activities at the end of a busy day ("wouldn't it be nicer to put my feet up").   This week I am going to focus on the joys of daily duty rather than finding reasons to grumble.   I will be a joyful mother in all I do.

He maketh the barren woman to keep house, and to be a joyful mother of children. Praise ye the LORD. (Psalms 113:9)

Be glad in the LORD, and rejoice , ye righteous: and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart.(Psalms  21:1)

  1. Oh, Jo! I am really bad at this too but I have just done a fast & it is amazing how when you are trying to be more focused & prayful anyway, making the everyday sacred, how the dusting & the dishes acquire a new charm. lol

  4. When I was working full time a few years ago, all I wanted was to be at home and be a full time house wife, housework included.

I savoured all housework for the first year or too after giving up work.

Now after a couple of years, (only working casually this past year), I don't love the housework, but I don't dislike it either. I do get annoyed with a never-ending washing pile though... especially when it rains no stop at certain times of the year lol.

    Have a great Monday Jo!

  7. Some days I am terrible about all the work that needs doing (particularly when my fatigue is worse). Other times I enjoy it (especially when I'm feeling better because at those times I am just so thankful to be not so fatigued!!). Being a joyful mother can be really hard, especially when the children are having a bad day (fighting or complaining or grumpy etc)... I think we can pretty much all relate to this post at one time or another!! :)
