A gift from my husband

I told a woman at work that my husband had bought me a can-opener and how excited he was at finding one that worked so well and looked so sturdy. She replied by say "I hope my husband doesn't buy me gift like that".

I, on the other was thrilled and very touched. Whilst flowers are very nice, they die . . .  whilst chocolates are lovely, they add calories to my waistline - a can-opener, however, is very useful indeed!! I am a very practical girl.

This is one cool can-opener. It is sturdy and it works.  Dear husband also made sure that it was red. I have a number of red kitchen items so this matches beautifully with everything else in the kitchen. He took great care to show me all the details and how it works.  How sweet is that.

It is when our husbands do these unexpected things, that make it all worthwhile.

It brings joy to the heart.

  1. I, like you, am a practical kind of girl. How thoughtful that he wanted to make sure it worked well AND he even thought to make it match the other red items you have. I think that is far more personal and thoughtful than flowers or chocolate. =) It shows that he knows YOU and cares about making your life easier. Way to go, hubby!

  5. Aww! That's so sweet! I can see why that would make you so happy... I enjoy getting flowers, but like you said, they die - practical or lasting gifts are great! :)

    1. I won't say no to flowers, but this was such a sweet present as it was unexpected and DH had such pleasure in sharing with me the details of the can opener (us women would have probably missed the finer details!!).
