Kathy's quilt Finally done . . . it has been a labour of love, a special gift for a dear friend.  I have enjoyed making it, but there have been times when I doubt my abilities and thought it wasn't good enough to give someone. Some people sew with such confidents, I am not one of them.  These are Kathy's favourite colours so I am sure she will like it regardless. 

In the sewing room: Update

I've been a busy girl in the sewing room — no not really much in the way of sewing, more about re-arranging things and buying new furniture for the room in hope that I will do more sewing!!! The two big purchases were from Ikea — the trolley now contains all my projects in one place and it very handy (and stylish too!). The other purchase is the two sets of drawers. One lot contains all my sewing (finally in one location) and the other all my stationary and paper — once again, all in the same place for once. My son was so kind and put everything together for me whilst I rearranged the room to fit the new furniture in.  I really only went to Ikea to buy the trolley with no intentions of buy drawers but these looked so useful and they are very deep so contains lots of space. I had to buy two because Ruby (yes, the cat) needed to be able to lie on top and stretch out. As you can see below - she fits beautifully and loves her new space (bed) near the window!!! What one does ...

In the sewing room

Dear Blogging friends,  I think its about time I did an update from the sewing room (which is a little messy at present so no photos of the space!!). What have I been doing — not a lot really! I started to make a top but ran into difficulties trying to understand the pattern so taking it off to discuss with friends who sew! But I have been buying patterns, thats really the easy part of sewing!!  I buy most from eBay —usually the older patterns that are often out of print or no longer in demand. These are my favourites and I have managed to find some treasures.  I was so excited about the pinafore (jumper) pattern (below) — I have been searching for the perfect pinafore pattern and struggle to find anything I liked, this is what I have been wanting.  The pattern is a little too large so I will need to make it small, but I look forward to giving it a go!! As to the other pattern (long green dress from Buttericks 5461) I plan to make this for summer b...
