Finding joy in the everyday

This handsome young man is my grandfather, he would have been in his twenty's when this was taken - rather dashing.  My brothers and I mucking about in summer!! Being ladylike wasn't something I was considering much at the age of 2! My mum (in her twenty's) with her niece and nephew. What a pretty dress she was wearing. ~oOo~

I had never seen this photo until this week when my mum sent me a bundle of photos she had found whilst sorting through their belongs (as they are moving). * She has the most beautiful smile * * * * * My grandfather as a young man (my mothers father) Didn't he have very fine features? He wore those starched shirts almost all his life - they must have dug into his neck line. He was a chemist and owned a chemicals factory which was sold when he died, I was about 7 years old.

This is a photo of my mum (front) and her older sister Joan, taken in the later half of the 1940's.  Mum was in her mid teens (the youngest of 6 children). * Questions * 1. Would you prefer to be a teenager in the 1940's or today - why? 2. If you were transported back to the 1940's - what items of modern times would have take back - things you couldn't live without?  

I'm beginning to get worried as I haven't heard from anyone - is anyone out there?? Please do leave a comment if you are passing by :) Last weekend I bought a scanner and been busy scanning in old family photos. So far I have done 139 with many more to do. It is such a time consuming job but well worth it. I will be turning these photos into a printed book - that's when the fun starts. Below are two photos, one of my 3 aunts - I think they have the most beautiful faces. The second photo is of my 5 great-aunts - Frieda, Bertha, Tilly, Sarah and Luise (who I was named after).
