The sweetest things in life
The best things in life are nearest:
breath in your nostrils, light in
your eyes, flowers at your feet,
duties at your hand, the path of
right just before you, Do not grasp
at the stars, but do life's plain
common work as it comes, certain
that daily duties and daily bread
are the sweetest things in life.

May you all have a wonderful weekend.
The sun is shining and I can even hear birds singing.
I plan to sit in the sun this afternoon and enjoy God's wonderful gift to us all - nature.
Dinner is in the slow cooker (Lamb shanks), the house is cleaned, washing on the line and the groceries have been bought. Time to have lunch and think about some crafty activities - perhaps tackle that crocheting which I still haven't mastered.
PS or I could lie on the couch and have an afternoon sleep and imagine that I am walking on along that path, with warm sand between my toes heading towards the sea. Sun is on my back and I can smell the flowers. Dreaming of summer.

I'd opt for the nap. ☺
ReplyDeleteBeautiful artwork. Beautiful day too, isn't it? We've been getting into some spring cleaning and changing furniture around today - I love doing that, it makes the house feel so fresh! Two more rooms to tackle over the next weeks, and then the house will feel as close to new as it ever will ;)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your afternoon in the sun, such a gorgeous day! x
Your PS was exactly what I was thinking as I read your post!
ReplyDeleteI've had a busy, getting organized morning as well and I am off to enjoy the gorgeous Spring-like afternoon with my dear old Mum and Dad :-) My favourite Saturday passtime!
You have a great weekend as well.
Thanks for the lovely verse, too.
Enjoy the sun and your nap, I've been to a kids b/d party, done some cleaning and now about to work on the tax stuff:)
ReplyDeleteI made a lamb shank dish in my slowcooker recently... it was delicious!!
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoyd that restful afternoon sleep and that you have a lovely Sunday :D
