Finding joy in the everyday

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.  (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18) Dear ladies, not matter what your plans are for today, whether that be going off to work, working from home in a home-based business or a stay-at home wife and mother, we must rejoice in whatever situation we find ourselves in and we must pray without ceasing .  Do not face the day until  you have faced God in prayer.  Five days a week I roll out of bed at 5:40am  which isn't something I enjoy — I look forward to the weekend just so I can get a few  extra  hours of snoozing. I shower, get dressed, feed the cats, pack my bags and off to work I go. I am in the car by 6:20am so no time to eat breakfast, instead I have it at work. And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.  (Matthew 21:22) Have you watched the stories from Syria and wish you could reach out and help those poor innocent children who are suffering so badly? Have you seen families in your church that are in desperate need for assistances but its beyond your capability? Have you heard of someone with financial problems and would love to help but you can't?  A family breaking up due to domestic violence? I have and I feel powerless and weak. It makes me feel really sad and wanting to cry.  I want to help but don't know how and feel that these problems are just too big for me.  😕 Does this mean we can never help solve the problems around us? My DH is currently applying for another job.  His application was sent off on Saturday.  It’s not that he wants to move from where he is, he quite liked the work he was doing.  However there are a couple of senior managers who don’t like him because of his views on particular topics (which I won’t go into). As a result of expressing his views, they have systematically targeted him—in other words bullied him for months and months. It is only a handful of managers targeting him but they are powerful enough to make his work life miserable and force him to look elsewhere.  We are waiting to see if they offer him an involuntary redundancy.  These should only be offered if a position has disappeared and they cannot find another or the person is breaking the Code Of Conduct.  My DH is doing neither.  He simply has other views on select topics that they don’t like.  We aren’t talking about rebel behaviour or anarchy here – just a  diff...

Blake and Alex by Susan Rios Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.   1 Peter 5:7 Here are a few things on my pray list that I am casting to the Lord in pray.  My youngest son is currently job hunting, he isn't very enthusiastic and I think a little frighten of this new chapter of his life, please pray that he able to find a job, any job that provides a safe environment for him to learn and mature.  The world is a large and scary place for anyone, but particularly for a young man of (almost) 19.  My eldest son is currently trying to find a better paid job and he is having some difficulties which gets him down.  He needs all the encouragement he can get and lots of praying. My mum is unwell again and my dad needs prayers as he needs strength each day to care for mum and he gets so tired sometimes.  Being a full time carer is a hard occupation, made harder when you are getting older yourself. My dear mother-in-law has had cancer (Ovarian) for the last 18months and now it has spread (to her lungs) and she is in hospital (where doctors want to do more tests - making her more distressed).   Fortunately she isn't in any great pain at this stage, however the drugs she is being given are making her feel even worse. My husband and I don't live near by, but my husband is planning to fly and stay with her as long as needed (he will be able to work a few days a week when he is there).  She is a Christian woman which is such as relief as she knows she is going to heaven which gives her such joy, however she still feels scared about what is happening probably becuase she is no longer in any control over her life .  Please pray that the next few months are as comfortable as possible and that she can put her faith completely in Gods hands.  And her doctors do the right things eg don't forget to give her her medication which caused her even more distress until...

I would love peoples views on adult children who still live at home and paying board.  My questions are: Should these adult children (mine is almost 22) be paying board. And if so, how much?   What happens in other countries? I think they should as it gets them to understand the whole thing of paying rent (when they finally move out) and how to budget (something my son is learning).  My son is enjoying the luxuries of a "hotel" with cooking, cleaning and washing all done for him!!  He does clean the bathroom/shower/tub but that's about it at the moment.  He says he is "too busy" to do anything else:)  I have said he can start paying board from the 1st of January.  I am still deciding on the amount (based on his income).   This is similar to pocket money - how much to pay and what do you expect in return? __________________________________________________________________________________ Thank you for the comments regarding mothers an...

This Friday Tristan has an interview for a 2 year ICT apprenticeship, in the Public Service. Please pray that he gets to the location with out any difficulties (we have already done a trial run), that he finds a car park (we have looked at different options) and the interview goes smoothly (I will give him some coaching tomorrow). This job/training would be perfect for him, however I will leave it in the Lords hands to decide if this is the best option for him.
