Finding joy in the everyday

These photos are of a village called Tilba Tilba, settled around 160 years ago by European settlers when gold was discovered in the region.  When gold started to peter out, the townspeople turned to dairy cows and became cheese makes amongst other things.   It has now become a tourist village, selling lots of touristy things (and lots of hippy clothes)! The photo below is looking across the valley away from the village. I would love to have a front entrance to my house looking like this.  Unfortunately this house sits at the end of a dusty car park - not in the best position. Who decided on this paint colour - I am sure it didn't look like this 100 years ago!! All the houses were painted different colours - I assume the residents of the village got together and decided on what colour each house would be! It currently raining - love the sound of rain so I might go to bed early and read as this weather encourages snuggling up with a book and a cup of tea!! Charlie (the cat) wanted to go outside - I did try and explain that it was raining - she didn't listen - went outside for less than a minute and now she is back indoors grumbling as cats do about the weather. Caius doing what he does best - texting on the phone. Now that his phone package allows him to endlessly test - that is what he does. I wonder if these kids will get RSI in their fingers? Tristan has sent in his application for the public service apprenticeship. We now wait and pray that he hears about an interview. It does take some time to get through the process so I doubt we will hear anything until late October. Brenin lying in the sun - but because he is black it doesn't take long before he is too hot and has to move back into the shade. We had some lovely showers of rain this morning but sadly they didn't last long enough. But I mustn't complain as every little bit counts. The winds we had the other day knocked all my daffies over, but they weren't damaged so they are now safely in a vase indoors. This last photo is the "flowers" of a Canadian Maple, strange little things. I can't wait until this tress is fully grown - only need to wait another 20 years (I will be in my 60's) - I can be patient! I am feeling much better - still have the sore throat and head cold but on the mend. Poor Kat is also sick (but worse than me) - thanks Tristan for sharing the bug. I stayed home from work yesterday and I think sitting in the sun really helped. Plus the long sleep in:) which was much needed.
