Part 2: Christian working women - the importances of praying

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

 (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)

Dear ladies, not matter what your plans are for today, whether that be going off to work, working from home in a home-based business or a stay-at home wife and mother, we must rejoice in whatever situation we find ourselves in and we must pray without ceasing

Do not face the day until you have faced God in prayer.

Five days a week I roll out of bed at 5:40am which isn't something I enjoy — I look forward to the weekend just so I can get a few extra hours of snoozing. I shower, get dressed, feed the cats, pack my bags and off to work I go. I am in the car by 6:20am so no time to eat breakfast, instead I have it at work. The drive is quite pleasant and I listen to music on the way. I  dropping my son off at his workplace and I head to mine. During the day I have deadlines to meet, demanding clients who want things now, I have to managing unrealistic expectations, I work with many different types of people with their own quirky personalities and I have spend hours in front of the computer doing research and sometime my brain really hurts by the end of the day.

Without God and without pray, my day would be much more difficult and stressful. However when you realise that God is your constant companion and He is with you at all times of the day and night, life's problems becomes manageable. It is like carrying lots of heavy bags, but they have no weight as God is carrying the heaviness of all the bundles.

We should keep a running conversation with God all day long, "praying always" (Ephesians 6:18) — when you are getting up in the morning, stuck in traffic, eating your breakfast, at the shops but especially AT WORK where you often need it most.  It is so important to understand that God does not abandon us when we are at work, He isn't only for those at home — He is watching over ALL WOMEN at ALL TIMES.

We do not need to be kneeing beside our beds to pray and our eyes do not need to be shut or our hands folded nor do we need to be at church — we can pray ANYWHERE at ANYTIME, even at your desk at work.

Our prayers are our private conversation with God and He wants us to talk with Him about everything and for ladies at work, this is even more important.

So what do we pray about—ANYTHING and EVERYTHING.
  • We pray to get closer to God—to understand Him better, to grow closer
  • We pray for advice
  • We pray to overcome temptation and sin (for some this is a big problem in the work place)
  • We pray for strength and guidances
  • We pray in preparation for major and minor decisions—any decisions
  • We pray for others who are in need, sick, or struggling
  • We pray to strengthening others spiritually
  • We pray when we have specific requests
  • We pray to give thanks, to show gratitude
  • We pray as a way of obtaining His solutions to various situations
  • We pray for our families, our children, our husbands/wives (we can certainly do this whilst at work)
  • We pray to pour out our soul to the Lord
  • We pray in desperation — when we are in pain
  • We pray when something wonderful has happened

There have been times when I have gone for a walk or even sat in the ladies toilets to quietly pray for guidance's and direction. Not everyone can walk away to pray, sometimes you just have to pray where you are standing no matter where that is.

So ladies, don't forget to pray whilst at work, it lightens the load and makes your day so much easier to get through. Remember, don't only pray when things are tough — also pray when something wonderful happens too. And as you disembark from your car in the evening, thank the Lord for getting you through another day.

Don’t pray when you feel like it.
Have an appointment with the Lord and keep it.”
