Who taught you to read?

I am forever thankful for theses who taught me read.

For those who had the patiences to persevere as I was a difficult student who found reading hard work and therefore didn't enjoy it until I was around 11.

Thank you to my mother and my teachers.

I cannot imagine a life without books or the inability to read well.

I have travelled the world (and beyond) through books, I have weeped, laughed, smiled, giggled and fallen in love through books.

I have read books I couldn't put down  and stayed up late to finish and I have read books that were a struggle to finish, a little like climbing a mountain. And occasionally I come across a book I can not finish, but that rarely happens.

Books are part of my life and I couldn't imagine ever been separated from them!

Who do you have to thank?

Reading is dreaming with open eyes.

  2. I too love to read; one of my very favorite things to do. I can't remember actually learning to read, but my mother passed her love of books to me, and I will always be grateful for that.

    1. I made a big effort to pass on my love of books to my children and they both enjoy reading - in fact when they were little and we were out at the shopping centre - if they wanted a treat it was almost always a book !!

  3. I think I must have always known how to read, hehe ;) I cannot remember a time when I couldn't read!!
I love reading, and although I don't get as much time for personal reading as I might like, I do a fair bit of reading with the children and other books with Dan (read-alouds), which we all really love! My children and Dan all LOVE reading too, for which I am very thankful. :)

    1. I spent hours looking at the pictures and making up my own stories and I can still remember the excitement of reading my first book from cover to cover - and that was that - never stopped me since!!

  4. I guess I have my Mom to thank for instilling the love of books in me. My folks have photos of me when I was about 6-12 months holding up a book. Of course the book was upside down. They also love to remind me about getting them up in the middle of the night and searching our 2 acre yard with a dying touch to find a book I had accidentally left outside.

  5. Yes well said! I'm thankful too. My life would not be the same without the ability to read! I have my teachers to thank.
When my daughter was struggling with reading in kindy & year 1 I would sit down with her every afternoon and work through words with her & help her heaps. We would go to the library and borrow books to help improve her reading beyond what was taught in the classroom and now she's a keen reader! She's one of those kids who'd rather sit in reading a book than play outside hahahaa!
