God is good ALL the time

I often read "God is good as He allows me to be a SAHM".

God is good all the time, even when you are not a SAHM.

Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever. (Psalm 136:1)

We must accept whatever situation God places us in and thank God for his goodness no matter whether you are a SAHM or not.  We must not question or doubt His decision as He always knows best. And sometimes the path we are led down doesn't make any sense until much much later and to be honest, it does not need to make sense to anyone else but God.

So the next time you say God is good for letting you be stay at home, remember if you were heading off to the office each day, likewise, you would say God is Good.

So Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God.
(Luke 18:19)

And if God has other plans for you, whether that is working outside the home, sending your children to school, unable to have children, being faced with an illness, living with a difficult husband or the many other trials that we face - we need to still praise the Lord and give thanks.  God is good even when we face this difficulties.

I could grumble everyday and complain that God hasn't allowed me to stay at home but that is saying that God has got it wrong. Has He?  No, He never gets it wrong. So each morning you and I need to say:

 God is good
 and He is in control

For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, And His truth endures to all generations. (Psalm 100:5)

I choose to go off to work with a joyful heart and I choose to like my job. I choose not to grumble and I choose to find the positive in what I do. And I rely on God to make sure it all works, and it does if you trust Him, it does and I am not just saying that, it really does all fall into place.

God is GOOD.

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28)

  1. Dear Jo,
It´s true, God is good all the time. Sometimes we can just trust and do our best, like Joseph in prison, seeking excellence in the middle of "non-sense". But everything will make sense in the end. In His time.
The sooner we realize this, the sooner we´ll be able to find joy in the mundane, little things in our insignificant place in the world because it´s all a little part of His plan.
Thank you for today´s message. There are many Josephs out there wondering why they should be happy while in the darkness. Having hope in the Lord because He is good lifts our spirits.

  2. The older I get, the more I know the truth of this, despite the fact that some parts of life seem to get more difficult as time goes on, rather than easier. We were not promised an easy life, but there is one promise that never changes: "And He said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for My strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me." (2 Cor 12:9)
He IS good. Always. Without fail. Even in sickness, death, grief, sadness, trials. His love and goodness is unfailing.
A timely encouragement. Thank you, Jo.

    1. That is such a beautiful verse :) and its those sufferings that make us stronger and grow our faith, which is why trials are so important to endure even if they don't feel like that at the time!

  3. Absolutely agree! I wonder why we even need to be reminded? And who are we - little specks in the history of man, in a huge galaxy - to say anything else in regards to the workings of a GREAT God? Great in every way!
Thanks Jo, strong words, but needed to retain a correct sense of our position.
    love,
    Bets

    1. It has been niggling me for a while that phrase as it makes it sound like woman like me aren't good enough for God to be good to us which is complete rubbish as God is a Great God and He is Good, a good that we will never be.

  4. Sometimes even on the worst days our lives, we have to realize that "THIS is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it."

  5. Yes, God is Good all of the time (even when we don't get "our way" whatever the circumstances). I do feel uncomfortable when that phrase is being used when everything goes according to OUR plans... Because let's be honest, many times things do not work out and God is STILL good. May we praise him like the Apostle Paul, in all circumstances...

    1. I feel the same as you – how many people say God is Good when they are ill or in huge debt or their husband is out of work and they are forced back into the workforce. God is good all the time, through the good and the not so good.

  7. Sometimes it is hard to choose to be happy whatever situation God has us in and also to realise that He is good all the time. Thank you for this timely reminder. Thank you also for linking up at Good Morning Mondays. Blessings

    1. Thankyou for stopping by. It can be hard to accept God's decision but once we do, it becomes very clear that God's decision is always spot one and makes heaps of sense!! Funny that :)))

  8. Yes I really agree with you here God is good all the time, no matter where we are. He was good when I was a working mum and he was good when I was a SAHM too. True there are different times of our lives but He is Good no matter what.

    1. Its a difficult one for some who don't want to accept that God can ask us to do things that they strongly disagree with - but God always has His reasons and at times they don't make any sense!! Regardless, we must accept His will. Thanks for dropping by.

  9. I'm not entirely sure of what "SAHM" means- obviously something to do with work. But I agree that God is good despite circumstances that might not seem wonderful to us. His goodness isn't changed by situations that affect humans!
