Had a wonderful cooking weekend with my 17 year old son.  He decided that we should cook, so we make Dark CHOCOLATE Brownies, CHOCOLATE Mousse and Dark CHOCOLATE Cheesecake.  This is Caius making a silly face with the finished cheesecake (covered in whipped cream).   He is very good at cooking (makes a great chicken and mushroom pasta) and loves to try new recipes and we often cook together which I just love doing.

The cheesecake tasted delicious - half went to his girlfriends and I have the other half + mousse and brownies (I need to go on a diet . . . soon).
This is my son with our 2 dobermans - they wouldn't sit nicely for the photo, as a result you can't see their faces.  Caius loves animals and so good with them. Charlie is his cat (even though I look after her 99% of the time) and when she strayed into our yard 3 years ago on hot summers day it was Caius who said we had to keep her.  He even rung the RSPCA to see if anyone had reported her lost and then the vet to find out what we needed to do. He has so much kindness in his heart.
Below are a couple of photos of my little boy when he was even smaller. He has beautiful blonde curls that looks so cute when he was small - now he uses the with the hair straightener to remove them:(  he no longer thinks they are cute!!

I would I describe him:
loveable  ..   caring  ..  musical  ..  friendly  ..  compassionate  ..  bright  ..  kind  ..  spoilt (my fault)
 and TALL

  1. Wow...all that CHOCOLATE stuff!
Your son does look gorgeous. Could you write phonetically how you pronounce his name? I haven't seen it before.

  2. What a lovely tribute to your son!

He must be a great person because he loves animals. Animal lovers usually have kind and soft spirits. How special that you have cooking days together. My son could only manage toast :S Yep, my fault. ;)

  3. Hi Ruby - Caius is pronounced KIE-us. You may recognize Gaius which is the Roman spelling of the name and was the first name of both Julius Caesar and Caligula. It also appears in the bible (Act, Romans, 1 Corinthians and 3 John). It means "rejoice". We chose the spelling "Caius" as it is the Welsh spelling, used since the time of the Roman invasions.

Most people don't know how to say it, unless they are Italian, Welsh or know their ancient history!!

  4. I was thinking of Gaius but just wanted to check. It is strange when you have a name one way in your head then find out that it is in fact pronounce differently. Thanks for the clarification.

  5. Hi Jo,
Your son sounds like an absolute treasure to have in the kitchen. :)

My son is also about Caius' age, and he loves cooking, too. He has a cat named Minca, who is far too rotund for her own good, but he loves her to pieces, and she spends every night holding his quilt on his bed.

Caius was a very cute little boy - I would love to see him with curls now - they would be so cute, but maybe cute isn't cool!???

    Have a wonderful week,
    Love and blessings, Jillian ♥
