Your own special chair

Do you have a chair in your home that you can call your own?

I have two, one is in the lounge room where I sit/lounge every night and one in my study.

The one in my study (above) I use for reading on weekends, when I watch DVDs from my computer, when I phone my dad in the evenings or when I want to enjoy an afternoon nap on a winters afternoon. This is my own little retreat.

However this one needs to be shared with Ruby, my gorgeous black cat who thinks it is a really grand chair just for her.  In fact I think she thinks I bought it just for her!! However, she does need to share it with paddington bear!

Its a very cosy chair and the throw rugs comes in handy in winter.  There is nothing nicer than curling up in my chair with a good book and a mug of hot coco or tea.  I like to create these little spaces in my home that are cosy and inviting and have a homely feel to them.

The filing cabinet next to my chair may not be beautiful, but it is functional, but more importantly, Ruby loves to sits on top (on her pink blanket) and looks out of the window or go to sleep in the sunshine. This is her little space.

What is your special chair like?

Now this look likes more sort of chair!!

  1. Yes! I have my comfy chair, too!! :D I think it's so important to have a space that is cosy and comfortable for relaxation - our bodies need rest and a place to de-stress!
"My" chair is a recliner - only I do share it with my family ;) From it, I can look out over the beautiful scenery, and I have a little table beside it where I can sit a cup or book or my laptop. :)
Yours looks very cosy, Jo!! :)

    1. Chairs should be a place you can relax and as you say de-stess and your sounds like yours does both. Mine is certainly very comfortable and at times I fall asleep :)) and enjoy a nap.

  2. My comfy chair is a recliner, also. There is a stack of books similar to the one by the chair in the picture, only it is a double stack.

My little black Pomeranian, Fuzzy, loves to sleep in "my" chair every time he gets a chance, but he would much rather sleep on my lap as I sit in the chair.

    1. Pets do think they have a right to share our favourite things, my cat Ruby certainly does!

  3. I have "my" chair too! A recliner, because putting one's feet up is absolutely essential. And I don't share my chair! It has a moveable three tier trolley beside it which is always too full =) I also love my rocking chair in David's room, as it has a foot rest! Very relaxing to read in =)
    love,

  4. I don't have a special chair at the moment. When the kids were little, I had one for nursing in a corner of our bedroom - and as they got older it became my "prayer chair". We still have a chair in a corner of our bedroom but must confess these days it is usually piled with clean washing to be folded, rather than a pleasant retreat ... oops!

  5. I have a favourite lounge chair with a cosy Nanna blanket and the latest books I am exploring nearby. Not quite like the last picture, but it can be quite a pile sometimes, depending on what I am up to at the time. My bible is always near on the table next to me :)

    1. Sounds good to me!! My bible is in my iPad which is always near me:)) and on my phone. This is one of the great things about smart phones - you can carry your bible everywhere you go:)

      Have a wonderful week ahead.
