Art Friday: Sally Storch

Art Friday: Sally Storch

Pasadena, Californian based painter, born 1952

When I look at these paintings I wonder about the woman in each painting - where is she going, what is she thinking, who is she waiting for, is she happy or sad, why is she alone in her thoughts, has her life been hard?  I think they are lovely paintings without being overly romantic.  If they look familiar, think Edward Hopper who paints very similar canvas's (perhaps with a stronger line), capturing lonely or solitary moments in time.

    1. Dear Roxy, One day perhaps dresses like this will return to fashion, wouldn't that be nice. Yes, we are all well - however we are all very worried about my sister-in-law at this point as she is very ill. She is our focus of prayers at present.

    1. I also wonder what she is up to, where she is going and what she is thinking!! I find myself making up my own stories !!

  3. These are not quite the precisely detailed artwork I enjoy, but I still like them a whole lot. One of the things I really like is how feminine and beautiful these ladies are! :)

    1. They have too much brown in for me and I agree they aren't as precise as others but I do like the topics in each pairing and the lovely feminine women, not painted in some sexual way.

  4. Beautiful paintings! They just wouldn't be the same with the women wearing holey jeans, sweatshirts and a sloppy ponytail. I wish women knew what a difference they could make in our environment/culture just with the way they dress.

    1. I work with a couple of younger women who wear lovely dresses in summer - the sort that are very feminine and modest and they really stand out because they look so pretty. Jeans just aren't pretty no matter what you do with them :(
