Our most faithful friend

Friendship with God is our most important friendship we can ever have, better than any earthly friend.

God is never too busy for us, He never leaves us to go off to do other things, He will walk through the darkest valleys and hold our hands, He will provide comfort for ANY heartache, we can cry on His shoulder and lean when weary.

He never gossips about us and never goes off and becomes better friends with someone else. He never berates us or makes us feel silly or worthless.

He never makes fun of us or laughs when we do something embarrassing.

He is always available to talk to, no time is inconvenient, He is contactable 24/7.

He doesn't go on holidays and forget about us and nor will He ever retire.

His friendship is not based on emotions or favours, rather it is enduring and rock-solid.

He will never abandoned us and when life’s circumstances hit us badly, our dearest friend will always be there. No matter the storm, He is always beside us, holding our hands, offering a shoulder to lean on.

He is our most faithful friend.

So why so we neglect Him, treat Him so poorly at times and forget all about Him when things are going good. Why do we quickly need him a storm, but ignore him whilst at the party?

We eagerly spend hours on Facebook or texting friends, why not add God to this group and contact Him just as much. Remember, He is far more important that anyone else or anything else in our lives. Therefore our contact should be 100% more.

His unfailing faithfulness is without limit and end.

When God says He loves us, it isn't some passing phases like a high school fling, fleeting for just a moment. His love is forever and has no bounds.

So if you are feeling a bit lonely or sad and in need of a friend, don’t forget your most faithful of friends. He is our most faithful Companion and waiting to hear from you as " Thou wilt find a solace there".

Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.

(Revelations 3:20)

What a Friend we have in Jesus,
All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
  Everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
  Everything to God in prayer!

Have we trials and temptations?
  Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful
Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.

Are we weak and heavy-laden,
Cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge—
  Take it to the Lord in prayer;
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
  Take it to the Lord in prayer;
In His arms He’ll take and shield thee,

Thou wilt find a solace there.

  1. He truly is our everything. We must be diligent in His Word and in prayer, always. This is the only way to continually keep Him first! :) Thank you for your loving, gentle reminder of this!

  2. I don't have an earthy friend as precious, forgiving, loving, understanding, and always there, then my Lord. And like Katy said, thank you for reminding us!

  3. Talking to Him first thing, last thing and all day long is what helps me to cope with the tough stuff. Making more of an effort to thank Him for the good stuff too. Memorising His Word is amazingly helpful also - especially to stop anxiety and stress before they get a grip.

    1. Really does make all the differences to our day - without Him we stumble and fall, get stressed and anxious - life is so much tougher than it nee be.

  4. Such an important truth! He truly is so faithful and good. The older I get, the more I lean on Him, turn to Him and want Him to guide and help me every step of the way. Life is too short to waste trying to do things our own way and too short to choose to neglect this Love and most precious friendship!

    1. I think its the same for many people - the older one gets the important things in life begin to really matter and for Christians that is their relationship with Christ. As you say, life is short - so why waste a moment and take every opportunity to be with the Lord.

  6. Jo,
I know I may be a bit late in commenting on this post, but I want you to know how much I loved and needed it.

You see, I live in the UK, and my family and friends stateside can at times, seem so far away. Also, I work only a few hours a week from home for my husband's business, and there is the added issue that there are very few people around me who are of the Christian faith.

Sometimes, it gets to me and I have a little "pity party for one", because I feel quite alone. It is when I remember that with Christ I am never alone, that I again regain the positive thoughts and get out of that sorrowful feeling.

When it seems I am being "let down" a bit, I am able to remember that we are are human and will all mess up sometimes.. God never does, and thank you for that reminder.

    1. I know what it is like to have very few Christian friends - I have very few, most of those close to me are also related to me as we all understand each other. I have learnt to accept the few friends I have and know that God is my best friend and the only one I really need. However, through blogging, I have made the most amazing friends and this is so wonderful and I feel very blessed and thank God for this wonderful opportunity. Even thought the distances - we can still share our joy of Christ :))))

      Have a wonderful weekend :)
