One of the most popular topics among women Christian bloggers is the issue of whether women and girls should only wear skirts and dresses or is it ok to wear slacks/jeans. Some say Christian women should only wear skirts/dresses, others say it isn't a sin issue therefore it doesn't matter as long as the outfit remains modest. Others say skirts should be to the ground, others are happy at knee length. When you look across the blogs the responses are a mixed bag and it must be confusing to those women trying to decide which way to turn. So what do I think? This is my own personal convictions on the topic and I am not telling anyone else what to wear. I grew up wearing skirts/dresses almost exclusively. All the women in my family - young and old - wore skirts and dresses. I simply wasn't allow to wear anything different. I accepted this quite happierly as a child but as I got older (into my teens) it began to niggle me, partly because I began to stand out which wasn't s…
Wash on Monday,

Mend of Wednesday,
Churn on Thursday,
Clean on Friday,
Bake on Saturday,
Rest on Sunday.
Sometimes the ordinary and mundane have a quiet beauty we haven't really taken much notice of. Today's art is all about the washing on the line and some of these paintings are quite striking.
All quotes used today are by Laura Ingalls Wilder
"I am beginning to learn that it is the sweet, simple things of life which are the real ones after all."
"Home is the nicest word there is"
"The true way to live is to enjoy every moment as it passes, and surely it is in the everyday things around us that the beauty of life lies"
And what happens after the washing is dry . . . the ironing!
"The woman who makes a sweet, beautiful home, filling it with love and prayer and purity, is doing something better than anything else her hands could find to do beneath the skies." (J. R. Miller)
Never underestimate the power you have at home—you set the scene for family life, you create the cosiness of the home, you have built a sanctuary for all whom dwell within, you prepare the healthy meals your family eat, you keep the home clean and tidy, you drive the atmosphere of the home, you create moments things for your loved ones. You play a vital role which should never be underestimated. Even years later, those you once nurtured, who have since flown the nest will remember all the things you did to make their lives so perfect.
Mothers and wives are important in the lives of others. My mother created the most wonderful home full of Christian love, a place that was a sanctuary from the world and its troubles. My mother wasn't a full-time stay-at-home woman—she was a school…
As you look through these photos from recent newspapers what is the first thing that strikes you about them ? MODESTY
Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge (in cream), Princess Mary of Denmark (in orange) and the Sophie, Countess of Wessex (in blue) are all out at Royal Ascot (the annual horse racing event in Britain) a few days ago and the first thing that hit me was their outfits.
Here are all three modern women in modern outfits that are ALL modest.
The lengths of the dresses are below the knee, the necklines are high and cuts of the dresses are elegant.
Don't they all look feminine and pretty.
Their make up is minimal, so to their jewellery. They are all wearing their hair up and it looks beautiful and sophisiticated.
We too can dress elegantly, modern and feminine and still remain modest in our entire.
Art Friday: View from a window
I have no idea, but I love photography and artwork that involves windows. Not sure why I am drawn to scenes like these, perhaps I love to glimpse the world from the safety of a cosy room. Are you like me and like windows? Cats also love windows and will spend hours looking through with no interesting of going outside.
Please enjoy this collection of "Views from a window".
Sorry - but I just had to include some cats and windows as they go hand-in-hand. Cats love windows as much as me.
Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28) True restedness is a rare commodity today. We don't value it and we feel guilt if we have it. None of our friends seem well rested and we are just too busy to find the time to rest. How many people do you hear today talking about being tired, about not having a good nights rest, feeling weary but not knowing what to do. It is simple—we need to find put aside our problems and worries, turn off our technology, switch off the endless news, unplug the music, close the newspapers and spend time with God, as only He can give us complete rest and provide us with everything we need. Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him (Psalm 37:7) God desires rest for us because it does not come naturally to us. To rest, we have to trust that God will take care of things for us. We have to trust that, if we take a day off, the world will not stop turning on its axis. We are encouraged to find a quiet plac…
