Mothers Day High Tea

My beautiful son and future daughter-in-law took us (Kathleen's mother and I) out for high tea yesterday afternoon.  This is our feast.
We started with the sandwiches (no crusts!)
Cucumber & Danish feta
Ham & mesclun lettuce with autumn savoury onion and shiraz jam
Smoked salmon, cream cheese, capers & dill
Darjeling first flush tea (this was SO delicate)
Lovash topped with fresh basil, sun dried tomato & bocconcini
Pumpernickel topped with ham, rocket & wholemeal mustard
Rosemary salted mini toast with roast eggplant, olive tapenade & ricotta
Cucumber with fets & spicy capsicum
Flowering white tea with Jasmine flower
Fresh baked scones with clotted cream nd tea infused james
Individual apple crumbe
Chocolate cherry slice
Citron tart
Chocolate swirl tart
Sparkling lemon & ginger iced tea
And finally. . .

Rooibos Caramel tea infused chocolate truffle (in small gold boxes)
served with Rooibos Caramel tea

The view from where I was sitting.
Even though we were outside, the area had plenty of outdoor gas heaters to keep us warm.
Boys being boys!! They both spoilt me on Sunday.
My eldest son and his fiance
Their gift for mothers day was this most wonderful high tea to both myself and Kathleen's mother.  We were very spoilt.

Look what my youngest son gave me for mothers day.
Tea for one:)

  1. Beautiful tea set. Lovely high tea setting, I glad you had a wonderful time. Blessings to all!

  2. It looks wonderful, Jo! What fun!! And the teaset is so cute!! :) Nice to see some pics of your boys and Kathleen, too!

  3. It looks delicious! The boys definitely did good.
    Happy Mother's day to you.

  4. Happy Mothers Day. I love your tea set! Red is my favorite color. Your tea looks delightful and I thought that was a beautiful picture in your previous post of you and your mother. Have a wonderful day.

  5. Mrs Santos - my son knows I love red which is why he selected the colour! The teaset is so cheeful and happy, I know it will lift my spirits when I use it:)

He saved his pocket money to buy it for me which I thought was so sweet.

  6. wow what a great idea for a mothers day gift - a high tea! I'm going to have to store that idea away for another time for myself:)
    lovely tea set too!

  7. love ladybugs, so the teaset is a winner!

  8. Hi, sounds like you had an awesome time.

  9. Jo,

Oh my! That high-tea that you went to sounds very exquisite and fancy. Those little finger-foods looked like they would taste quite good.

I loved the little tea set that your son purchased for you. It's very cute. :)

  10. What a thoughtful gift! I love the memory-making type of gifts. And the tea set is so pretty. (o:

  11. That food looks like a dream. I'm glad you had a lovely Mother's Day.

  12. How fun! Just the other day I heard a question about high tea on an American radio quiz show. They were asking about the difference between low tea and high tea....something that not too many Americans understand!

Love the new tea set, by the way. The ladybugs are adorable.
