These are the last of my trip to Sydney city - and as you have seen, a day packed full.  These photos were taken at the end of the day as the sun was setting over Sydney Harbour - it was the perfect time to capture these landmarks. The Harbour is really quite beautiful with the suns final glow sprinkled over it.

These two photos were taken at dusk from the Sydney Harbour Bridge looking down on the Opera House.
The Opera House was designed by Jorn Utzon (Danish) and opened in 1973. (link for its history)

Below are some of the 1,056,006 glossy white- and matte-cream-coloured Swedish-made tiles that cover the roof of the Opera House.  For some trivia - the building is supported on 588 concrete piers sunk as much as 25 metres below sea level.
Sydney Harbour Bridge
Opened in 1932 after 6 years of construction (link)
Its total length including approach spans is 1,149 metres and its arch span is 503 metres. The top of the arch is 134 metres above sea level and the clearance for shipping under the deck is 49 metres. The total steelwork weighs 52,800 tonnes, including 39,000 tonnes in the arch. The 49 metre wide deck makes Sydney Harbour Bridge the widest Longspan Bridge in the world.
This was taken on the bridge at dusk

The photos below were taken at The Rocks - the oldest part of Sydney.  This is where the earliest settlers from Britain put down their roots in 1788.   However many of these buildings were constructed in the mid to late 1800's.

These two photos were taken in the South Highlands of NSW, it was a VERY cold day and VERY windy.
