Sunday Scriptures: Rest in the Lord

Apple Blossom by Martin Johnson Heade

Rest in the Lord,
 and wait patiently for Him

Trust in the Lord, and do good;

Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness.

Delight yourself also in the Lord,
And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Commit your way to the Lord,

Trust also in Him,

And He shall bring it to pass.

He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light,
And your justice as the noonday.

Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him;

Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way,
Because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass.

Cease from anger, and forsake wrath;

Do not fret—it only causes harm.

Psalm 37:1-8

  1. Beautiful Scriptures, Jo. Sometimes it can be hard to be patient and wait on the Lord (especially without worrying/fretting), but in the end if we can learn to do that, it makes life so much more enjoyable - and I think it helps us learn to be more content, too.

    1. I was very interested to see the word "fret" in the bible as it always seem such a modern word for modern times, but it isn't. Quite clearly humans have fretted for centuries and we aren't any different now. But to know that fretting only causes harm is a very good reminder.
