Be of good cheer

These things I have spoken to you,
that in Me you may have peace.
In the world you will have tribulation;
but be of good cheer,
I have overcome the world.

John 16:33

How hard it can be to remain cheerful during times of tribulation. I don't know what you are like during these times, but I feel sick in the stomach, not in the mood for people, grumpy, short-tempered and certainly not at all happy.  I feel down right stressed and I'm not very nice to be around. Fortunately I don't get into this state very often, but when I do it is such an effort to get out of and to be of good cheer until the tribulation has passed. This verse is such a very good reminder to me.

But straightway Jesus spake unto them,
saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid
Matthew 14:27

  1. Thank goodness for God's written word. I love these words of Jesus, they carry you through all the difficult times. xxx

  2. Our comfort and assurence in time of need!
    "Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid."

  3. I love the comforting words of Scripture. I often turn to Psalm 46 as well in difficult times.

  4. I can get grumpy too, if I let those thoughts of gloom and doom overtake me. It can happen so easily when going through many trials and tribulations. That's when I have to remind myself to take those thoughts captive and to turn my attention to the Lord and still offer Him thanksgiving for His mercies and grace, and also to TRUST Him. It is certainly not always easy.

    1. If I head down the gloom and doom path its not good at all as it can be hard to lift my head above it. But these days I am finding I am coping with stress much better, partly because my husband doesn't so it is important that I remain positive and in good cheer for him. I also need to keep my head clear to think through the problems to take some of the weight off his shoulders. But its all about TRUSTING IN THE LORD and that can take a lot of faith sometimes. We have a bit of a messy week coming up and I am feeling that all will be well. Blessings
