Sometimes I wonder. . . .

A hotel in the Lake District, England has replaced the Bible that usually appears in all hotel room with the very popular soft porn novel, Fifty Shades of Grey. Why, because it is more interesting and a best seller!  I'm sure some visitors will get quite a surprise when they open their bedside drawer to find this erotic book to read.  Unfortunately a child could come across this book quite unexpected as it is simply in the drawer next to the bed and I know a number of parents who really wouldn't want their young ones to flick through the book.

As would be expected, it caused quite an outrage, including from the local parish priest.  The owner of the hotel felt the Bible was no longer relevant in our secular society. But if anyone wants a copy of the Bible, they will need to ask for it at reception.

I suppose it isn't much different to the range of movies that are on offer in many hotels, even including X-rated films. Its just the way it all appears to be heading.

But He answered and said,
"It is written, 'Man shall not live
by bread along, but by every word that
proceeds from the mouth of God."

Matthew 4:4

  1. It really is a disgrace and sad. There is no more relevant book that Gods word.

  2. At least leave the Bible in the room, too. I think it is very sad that the day has come this would happen. I hope it doesn't spread. Maybe Christians who stay there and know about it could go and ask for a Bible to let them know the Book isn't irrelevant.

    1. But of all the books they could have selected, why select trash - a poorly written book that will only appeal to a certain sort of woman, its not even a book a man would read.

And, yes I agree, why not leave the Bible there as well. After a little research I found that it is a growing trend to remove Bibles from hotel rooms as it is not considered suitable in this age of many religions etc..

      Have a lovely weekend:)

  3. Reports such as this, day after day, eroding away at the Christian foundations of many countries, is really starting to wear on me. Lord, strengthen us in these ungodly times. Come quickly, Lord Jesus.

  4. Wow...that is upsetting. How many times I have heard stories of someone wanting to end their life in a hotel and instead opened the Bible and didn't....I wonder how many lives would be saved from that book...well none! That is sad, and yet we seem to be going that direction.
    Strong post!

    1. Perhaps Christians will choose not to visit this hotel because of this change.

      Do have a lovely weekend:)
