Another post on books :)
I think its time to write about something close to my heart . . . books and get away from topics that make me mad!!
Are you the sort of person, who, once you have started a book, must finish it (otherwise you are letting down the author) or do you just give up and never pick up the book again.
I’m the first — I try my hardest to read the book (and almost always get through) otherwise I feel like I am giving up on the author. Silly really!
I asked my colleagues this same question, a couple said life was short and couldn’t be bother trying to read a book they didn’t really like, the other half were like me and persevered!!

A new book arrived in the post today - "Around the world in 80 dishes" - another book to read in bed and mark all those I want to make with post-it notes. It's not that I needed it, but it was going very cheap and it looks interesting!!!

Got to dash, time to water the vegetables now that the sun is setting. The zucchinis are doing so well and the tomatoes are starting to turn red!!
I always try and finish books I start to read but some do annoy me so much I will throw them in the bin , they have to be very bad for me to do that, I think I have done that twice.
ReplyDeleteMerle...
It would have to be really bad to toss away. But I have got to the end of a book and given it away thinking it wouldn't be something I would read again, but it was ok!
DeleteI never finsih books that don't interest me. I believe Dorothy L. Sayers said it best when she said, You can get anyone to read anything if you write it well enough ~ or sentiments to that effect! lol However I read so prolifically that the ratio I don't finish is comparativally low.
ReplyDeleteI do selected carefully so I don't often come across a book that I don't like - I know what I don't like and just don't read them.
DeleteI usually try to read too many books at a time. I also go through "phases" with reading. During some seasons (like now), I want to read an entire book, where as with other seasons, I don't care to finish a book. I guess you can say I'm a "fickle" reader. :)
ReplyDeleteI usually have 2 books going at once, one at home and one I read in my lunch hours at work. I am a consistent reader and read at the same pace all year.
DeleteAre you done with the gun stats at work, Jo, or are you still being driven mad with that at work??
ReplyDeleteBooks is a *much* nicer subject to discuss!!! :)
I try my best to finish books even if they aren't my favourite, but if they are too long or involved, I end up putting it aside intending to read it soon, but in the end too much time usually passes and I don't get back to it!
I saw that Around the World in 80 Dishes book and thought about getting it, but didn't in the end. I did get a couple books that day though - the Solar System one, and the World Heritage one - both for school use. Both arrived in the mail today and look great! :)
The cookbook is quite good and nice to look through. I have marked a couple of recipes I would like to make.
DeleteI saw the one on World Heritage and couldn't decide then decided I didn't have enough room for it.
I am on holidays :) Buy Wednesday all gun questions were done and dusted!
Books are always a good topic, a topic I could discuss often.
