A different idea for wedding cakes

Have you ever heard of a "cheese" wedding cake?

A cake 'made' entirely from cheese.

I hadn't and found it fascinating when I was told by a friend that he had been to a wedding and the cake was made of cheese!! He was expecting a cheese cake in the traditional sense.

Here are some ideas I found on Pinterest - what do you think!!

Whilst I loooooove cheese, I think I would stick to the traditional cake!!

  1. Amazing, I have seen this before and they can look spectacular, but I am with you I would rather have cake.

    1. I had never heard of this before so it was quite an adventure looking at all the different options. These were my favourite, some I didn't like at all!

  2. I prefer real cheese cake or regular cake. :-) I really like cheese, but somehow I'd be disappointed to confront this in place of a cake at a wedding. Also, although I'd certainly try the cheese under normal circumstances, I find the combination of moldy cheese and flowers a bit odd - even though it is edible and perhaps tasty mold. ;-)

    1. I would be very disappointed if I got this at a wedding - most people do like the traditional cake (or cupcake) at the end of the wedding. I looked at quite a few and these were the most attractive, I did find some really ugly one that didn't look like a wedding cake at all!!

    1. Whilst I LOVE cheese, it isn't the most attract food item for a wedding cake!!

  4. I think this would be a huge disappointment if I turned up at a wedding and discovered this was the wedding "cake"! Besides, it would be a bit sad for the guests who were pregnant - they wouldn't be able to eat it... And then there's people who just *don't* like moldy cheese (like me)... Yuck. The look is interesting, I suppose... although it could seriously do without the mold, in my opinion. A sweet wedding cake kind of symbolizes a sweet union between husband and wife... It makes you wonder... what does a moldy wedding 'cake' symbolize??????
Cheesecake or ordinary cake for me, thank you! :P

    1. I would have had both a traditional cake and a cheese platter for those who like cheese - that would have catered for everyone. I am a cheese fan, but it doesn't say wedding to me!!!
