Art Friday: Mary Ann Lasher
Art Friday: Mary Ann Lasher
If you look closely at these paintings, each one tells some sort of mystery, that you, the viewer need to work out. As usual — we will each come up with a different story of what is happening.

Thank you for introducing me to this fun artist, Jo! She must be an illustrator for publishers, because I believe I've seen some of these on the covers of cozy mysteries.
ReplyDeleteI think so too - they are such fun!!
DeleteJo, I'm sure this is a character flaw, but I just had to see if I could find one of these pics used as a book cover. Although I couldn't find one from these that you posted, I found another one by Mary Ann Lasher on a Christian fiction book by Isabella Allen/Amanda Flower. Here's the link: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00BDQ3B56/httpwwwmarkes-20
DeleteI also think a couple of the ones you posted were used on an older Amish mystery series by Vannetta Chapman, but her covers have been updated and I can't find the originals anywhere. Okay, now I can relax!
That's really interesting - I think the entire series of books uses this illustrator if you look at the front covers on Amazon. I have never heard of this author (or realised these were book covers (!!) but to combine two things I enjoy - I good murder mystery and quilting is really quite clever!!! One comment said that she enjoyed some of the quilting tips that are in the books, so perhaps I should give them a go :))) Thankyou for your research, very much appreciated.
DeleteThese are really fun. But, I've never been much of a mystery solver.
ReplyDeleteThere is no wrong answer!!
DeleteThose are fun! :) The artist obviously likes cats and the colour blue. :)
ReplyDeleteI can't see anything wrong with that!!!
DeleteWhat curious paintings. I admit, though, that I didn't find the mystery in the second picture.
ReplyDeleteNo, I think that one is just a painting of a cat, but perhaps he is sitting on something!!
DeleteI love the sense of intrigue she creates in each painting. Thank you for introducing her work to me!
ReplyDeleteSo do I - I have just discovered that these pictures have been used on covers of murder mystery books which makes sense!
